Sooho precariously navigates the deadly politics surrounding his blood-drinking master Kiahn. I love this manhwa and she just cannot put them out fast enough! Volume 3 of Sweet Blood has us learning more about this mystical universe Sooho is stuck in. War is brimming and new political intrigue is added. We are introduced to an overwhelmingly beautiful yet cursed prince of a neighboring kingdom who is hated by his half-brother (the brief scene with them gave me serious flashbacks to the Shahi/Derek dynamic from Boy Princess, so I'm really interested to see where she is going with them!!). We also meet a priestess/sky goddess (I think I got that right) who I believe will play an important role. And just when you think Sooho and Kiahn are finally going to cross that threshold into lover land--seriously, they were RIGHT THERE!--a couple of surprises happen (including yet another character from Kiahn's past/presence--curses!) that push these two back to the very beginning. *sigh* But of course, Kim Seyong is the embodiment of the phrase, "The course of true love never did run smooth." Another great reason why she stands out in this category.Meanwhile, Kiahn's dragon servant, Ryuka, is still stuck in the human world, pretty much being held "captive" by Sooho's friend Kyungmin until Kiahn' returns Sooho. While Ryuka mostly retains Sooho's appearance, he did briefly show his true human form and, of course, he's beautiful (but seriously, aren't all her characters?), too beautiful for Kyungmin, who requests that Ryuka keep Sooho's appearance, which in turn hurt's Ryuka's feelings. I'm sensing some possible romance between these two, especially (or maybe at least) from Ryuka. There's just so much potential for so many characters, I love it!
Overall and in general, I love Kim Seyoung's art (though it's not for everybody), her complex and thoughtful storytelling, and her refusal to give any of her main characters an easy path to love. I think this is what makes her stand out in the category, so if you're looking for an atypical boy's love/yaoi story I highly recommend checking out this series as well as her only other one that's published in the US, Boy Princess. I will say that some parts of this volume left me a little confused, as it's been so long since I read volume 2, but I figured out the important stuff pretty easily. That being said, I can't wait for volume 4!

Plenty of twists and dark moments. Looking forward to the next volume.
A good series with great visuals.
